Our Love Story

In honor of Valentine's day today, I thought I would do a little post about my love story with Micah.

Our Love Story:

1. How long have you and your significant other been together?

Micah and I have been together a total of 10 and a half years. Crazy! In someways, it feels like just yesterday that we met, but in others, it definitely feels like 10 years and counting!

2. How did you meet? {What's your "love" story?}

Check out my post here.

3. If married, how long have you been married? If not, is this the guy you hope to marry?

We've been married 5.5 years and counting!  We got married in June of 2007. It was truly an amazing day!

4. If you are married, where did you get married at? Big or small wedding? If not, where would you like to get married? And will it be big or small?

We had a medium sized wedding and invited around 150 guests. It was at an outdoor garden about 1.5 hours north of where we live. It was absolutely beautiful!

5. Do you have any nick-names that you call one another? Do share!

We both call each other babe.

6. Name 3 things you love most about your honey.

1. He is my best friend. I can tell him anything and everything and he has never once judged me. 2. He is an amazing father. Seeing him with Aubrey is absolutely everything that I ever imagined. He's the best dad. 3. He makes me laugh. Ever since we started dating, Micah has been able to make me laugh and he continues to do so every day.

7. Tell us how he proposed? Or your ideal proposal?

Micah proposed to me when we were on a vacation to Las Vegas in March of 2005. I did not see it coming at all! We walked through a garden area of our hotel and stumbled upon a gazebo where he handed me a letter and told me to read it. It was him proclaiming his love for me and asking me to be his wife. Once I got to that point, he got down on one knee and asked me and gave me my ring- which I didn't even look at right away. I was so blown away, happy, excited, shocked... loved, that I didn't bother to look at the ring! After the proposal, we had a very expensive dinner at the Top of the World Restaurant at the Stratosphere and then went to see the Cirque Du Soleil show "O" which we had 2nd row tickets!
The day after getting engaged in front of the gazebo where he proposed.

8. Is he a flowers and teddy bear kind of guy for v-day, or strawberries, champagne, and rose petals?

He's a flowers and Teddy Bear kind of guy- in fact, I have received both from him in the past.

9. Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or pop a movie in and relax on the couch?

I would love a sunset dinner on the beach, but right now with a teething toddler, I would just die to pop in the movie with Micah and relax on the couch.

10. Tell us one thing you'd like to do with your significant one day. If you could do anything? Go anywhere?

Present: I would love for us both to take a day off  of work and bring Aubrey to daycare and just have an "us" day.

Future: I really would love to plan a weekend get-a-way without Aubrey. We haven't been away from her since she was born and I would love to do at least and overnight somewhere with Micah and get away.

11. Tell us what you plan on doing on this Valentine's Day.

We don't have any plans this year. Not sure if Micah has anything planned that I do not know about, but probably just spending the evening with Aubrey and then after she's in bed, relaxing with Micah and giving him the card I got for him and going to bed early because of work the next day. We're so lame.

12. Are you asking for anything this Valentine's day?

Nope, I've never asked for ANYTHING on Valentine's Day. Isn't the day to be shown/show how much you love someone- you shouldn't ask for anything.

13. Give us one piece of advice of keeping a relationship strong and full of love.

Keeping a relationship strong is hard work, especially when you add a toddler into the mix. We just keep the lines of communication fully open. Never shut down and distance yourself, always keep TALKING!  Spending time with just the two of you is hard, but that's crucial as well. Micah and I need to get out more and work on our relationship and while it's not in need of repair or in danger by any means, we just need to get back to where we were pre-Aubrey.

14. Show us a picture of what love means to you.
The love of a husband and a wife, creating a child, to me, is the ultimate love.

We're lame, too - and will more than likely spend some time on the couch in front of the TV and call it an early night...hahaha

  6. We celebrated our 10th V-Day yesterday too and have also been married 5 years this year! Isn't it funny how much your plans change once you become parents? We ate one of favorite meals (which included a ton of dishes... not very romantic) and watched Tv on the couch after little boy went to sleep. No hot dates in this house!!
